Working with Charities

Working with Charities, Voluntary Organisations and Social Enterprises

There's little doubt that charities have widely recognised the importance of effective marketing but traditionally many have struggled to get their message across. This is partly due to the fact that you have to promote yourselves on several different fronts.

Grass roots charities, for example, may need to better articulate how they fulfil a local community need as well as being "marketing minded" within their funding applications where they must convince firstly the Public Sector and secondly its recipients.

This is really important - surveys reveal that a charity which better understands their target audience and how to appeal to them, appears to increase their income by a significantly higher percentage than a charity which does not.

What's more, just as you need to understand "them" (i.e. your would-be volunteers, your supporters and your funders); they need to understand you - your methods of delivery and your expected outcomes. In a more exacting economic climate this may require you to take a fresh look at your marketing ideas and:

and of all of this needs to be done in a language which engages and stimulates support of your organisation - so no pressure there then!

If you think you need a little extra help with your charity marketing why not contact us? We have experience in the charity sector and can provide resonant marketing materials for campaign promotion; energised copywriting; stimulating talks and effective, enjoyable workshops on marketing and brand (yes, we are PTLLS qualified).
